Editing Event Details

After creating an event, you can update its details at any time. This guide explains how to edit your event information and what to consider when making changes.

How to Edit an Event

Step 1: Find Your Event

  1. Go to My Events in the sidebar

  2. Find the event you want to edit

  3. Click on the event row to open its details page

Step 2: Enter Edit Mode

On the event details page, click the Edit button in the top-right corner. This opens the event editor where you can modify all details.

Step 3: Make Your Changes

The edit form shows the same fields you filled in when creating the event:

Basic Information

  • Event Name - Update the name that identifies this event

  • Status - Change between Draft, Published, or Cancelled

Event Details
These vary based on your template’s event type:

  • Date and time

  • Venue/location

  • Dress code

  • RSVP deadline

  • And other event-specific fields

Step 4: Save Your Changes

Click Save to apply your changes. You’ll be returned to the event details page with your updates applied.

What You Can Edit

Always Editable

These fields can be changed at any time:

  • Event name

  • Event date and time

  • Venue/location

  • Dress code

  • RSVP deadline

  • Description and special instructions

  • Any custom fields for your event type

Cannot Be Changed

Some things are set when you create the event and cannot be modified:

  • Template - The template is locked once the event is created. If you need a different template, create a new event.

Editing After Sending Invitations

If you’ve already sent invitations and need to make changes, keep these points in mind:

Changes Are Not Re-Sent Automatically

When you edit event details, guests who already received invitations won’t automatically get updated information. You’ll need to:

  1. Send a new message with the updated details

  2. Or send an “Update” or “Reminder” message that includes the new information

What Guests See

  • RSVP Page - The RSVP page always shows the current event details. If guests revisit their invitation link, they’ll see updated information.

  • Sent Emails - Emails already in guests’ inboxes will show the old information. They can’t be recalled.

Best Practice

If making significant changes (new date, new venue):

  1. Update the event details

  2. Create and send an “Event Update” message

  3. Give guests clear information about what changed

Editing Event Status

You can change your event’s status from the edit page:

  • Draft - Event is being prepared, not visible to attendees

  • Published - Event is live, attendees can view and respond

  • Cancelled - Event has been cancelled

See Event Statuses for more details on what each status means.

Editing Messages

Event messages (invitations, reminders, etc.) are edited separately from the event details:

  1. From your event page, go to the Messages tab or section

  2. Click on the message you want to edit

  3. Make your changes

  4. Save the message

Changes to messages only affect future sends - previously sent messages cannot be changed.

Managing Attendees

Attendees are managed separately from event details. From your event page:

  1. Go to the Attendees tab or section

  2. Add new attendees or edit existing ones

  3. Remove attendees if needed

See Adding Attendees for more details.

Tips for Editing Events

  1. Edit before sending - Try to finalize details before sending invitations to avoid confusing guests with multiple updates.

  2. Use draft status - Keep events in draft while you’re still working out the details.

  3. Preview after editing - Check message previews after making changes to ensure your updates look correct in the invitation.

  4. Communicate changes - If you change important details after invitations are sent, send a follow-up message to inform guests.

  5. Check RSVP deadline - If you’re pushing back dates, remember to update your RSVP deadline too.

Troubleshooting

I can’t find the edit button

  • Make sure you’re on the event details page, not the events list

  • Check that you’re logged in as the event owner

My template fields are missing

  • Some fields only appear if they’re used by the template’s messages

  • The template determines which fields are available

Changes aren’t showing in my invitation

  • Make sure you saved the event after editing

  • Preview the invitation again to see current details

  • Note that already-sent emails won’t update
