Deleting Your Account

If you no longer need your Dear account, you can permanently delete it. This guide explains what happens when you delete your account and how to do it.

Before You Delete

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Before proceeding, consider:

What Gets Deleted

When you delete your account, the following is permanently removed:

  • Your profile and login credentials

  • All events you’ve created

  • All attendees in your account

  • All messages and send history

  • Uploaded images and backgrounds

  • Template purchase history

What You’ll Lose

  • Template purchases - You won’t get refunds for purchased templates

  • Subscription - Your subscription will be cancelled

  • Event history - All past and upcoming events are deleted

  • Attendee data - Your guest lists cannot be recovered

Alternatives to Consider

Before deleting, you might want to:

  • Cancel your subscription instead - Keep your account but stop paying

  • Export your data - Save any information you might need later

  • Contact support - If there’s an issue we can help resolve

How to Delete Your Account

Step 1: Access Your Profile

  1. Click your avatar in the bottom-left corner of the sidebar

  2. Select Profile from the menu

Step 2: Find the Delete Section

  1. Scroll down to the Delete Account section

  2. Click to expand if it’s collapsed

  3. Read the warning message carefully

Step 3: Confirm Deletion

  1. Click the Delete Account button

  2. A confirmation dialog will appear

  3. Read the warning about permanent data loss

  4. Click Yes, delete my account to confirm

Step 4: Account Removed

Once confirmed:

  • You’ll be logged out immediately

  • Your account and all data will be deleted

  • You’ll be redirected to the homepage

After Deletion

Can I Recover My Account?

No. Account deletion is permanent. Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered. If you want to use Dear again, you’ll need to create a new account.

What About My Subscription?

If you have an active subscription:

  • It will be cancelled when you delete your account

  • You won’t be charged again

  • No refunds are provided for remaining time

Can I Use the Same Email?

Yes. After deleting your account, you can create a new account using the same email address. However, none of your previous data will be available.

Common Questions

Q: Will my attendees be notified?

No. Attendees are not notified when you delete your account. If you have upcoming events, consider informing your guests before deleting.

Q: What happens to sent invitations?

Previously sent invitation emails remain in your guests’ inboxes, but the invitation links will no longer work after account deletion.

Q: Can I download my data first?

Currently, there’s no automatic export feature. If you need to save specific information, do so manually before deleting your account.

Q: How long does deletion take?

Account deletion is immediate. Your data is removed as soon as you confirm.
